The practice of defending our Catholic Faith is called APOLOGETICS.  

A person who is able to effectively defend our faith is called an APOLOGIST.

Do not confuse these words with ."apologizing," or "apology" in the modern
English sense of admitting a wrong.  

Almost the opposite is true. 

Apologetics defends and explains our faith, and corrects any wrong ideas about us Catholics,

others may have.
